Rabbi Sanford Akselrad kicks off Congregation Ner Tamid’s countdown to our Torah Dedication, Parade and Celebration with a video invitation to join us Sunday, February 5, 2023.
Letter scribing takes place from 9:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m., the Dedication and the Torah Parade starts at 12:00 p.m., and a Celebration with refreshments starts at 1:00 p.m.
If you have already sponsored a section of CNT’s new Torah and scribed a letter either on Wednesday, September 21, 2022, or Monday, December 5, 2022, please look for a photo of your Mitzvah here and drag it from the web page.

It’s not too late to contact us today, sponsor a Book, a special passage, a significant verse, or a weekly portion in CNT’s new Torah, and schedule time with us on Tu BiShvat, next Sunday before the Dedication ceremony, to inscribe your letter. You’ll also be acknowledged prominently on a permanent donor wall at our synagogue.
Writing a new Torah, or commissioning the writing of a scroll, is the fulfillment of Mitzvah No. 613, the very last Mitzvah in the Torah.
CNT Members Elaine and Jack Chernikoff, and their son Neil Chernikoff, commissioned the first new Torah for CNT in loving memory of their son and brother Harvey Alan Chernikoff.
