Lifelong Jewish Learning is alive and well at Congregation Ner Tamid.
One of the fundamental ways our children learn is from observing what their parents, grandparents and other role models do. Participation in adult Jewish learning sends an ongoing, important message to younger generations that continued growth and development of our Jewish knowledge is a priority. Come be a part of that message. Your participation and attendance in adult Jewish programs and events is sincerely encouraged. Together we will engage in learning and fulfill our commitment to the advancement of our Jewish-selves. You never know what you might learn!
Please contact the Temple office at (702) 733-6292 for more information about adult education classes.

JEWISH VIEWS ON HOW TO SPEND MONEY (MORE) JEWISH-LY: VIEWING OUR OBLIGATIONS AND CHOICES THROUGH A JEWISH LENS
CNT’s Social Action/ Social Justice Committee and the Adult Education Committee are teaming up to co-sponsor a series of classes called, “Jewish Views On …” Facilitated by Rabbi Cookie Lea Olshein, each session of this Zoom series will focus on texts from the Torah and Talmud, as well as classical Jewish commentaries. Rabbi Olshein encourages attendees to come with questions and be ready to participate in meaning-filled conversations about our sacred texts and traditions. This series is free and open to all with RSVP, although class size is limited to encourage conversation. Register for each session individually or on the CNT website calendar so we’ll know to expect you on Zoom!
CNT’s Resident Rabbinic Scholar Rabbi Cookie Lea Olshein is facilitating the Shalom Hartman Institute’s (SHI) “Together and Apart: The Future of Jewish Peoplehood” curriculum, which is part of SHI’s iEngage series. This curriculum features short videos by SHI scholars and interviews with noted experts, as well as facilitated text study designed to stimulate deep conversation. SHI describes “Together and Apart” as follows: “We consider what it means to be a member of the Jewish people, the core values that animate Jewish peoplehood, and the contemporary challenges to Jewish unity. The curriculum examines the forces dividing the Jewish people today, including nationalism, antisemitism, dual-loyalty, and identity politics; and it imagines new conceptual frameworks that can help sustain and grow the story of our people for a new millennium.”Due to the generosity of the Shalom Hartman Institute, CNT can offer this ZOOM course for FREE, however, registration is required no later than Friday, January 24, in order to receive the ZOOM link and necessary preparatory materials. The first four sessions of this curriculum will be held from 7:00 – 8:30 p.m. on Tuesdays, February 4 and 18, and March 4 and 18.
Please note: If there is sufficient commitment from the group (a minimum of eight people because of the nature of the program), sessions can continue every other week (four sessions at a time) until the full 14 available units are completed.
To learn more about learning opportunities from the Shalom Hartman Institute, please see Hartman.org.il.
For questions about this program at CNT, please reach out to Rabbi Olshein at ReformRabbi@me.com or Shawna Brody, CNT’s Adult Education Chair, at shawnapbrody@gmail.com.
